Mr. Lavelle has also published several pieces in various Bar Association newsletters, and real estate publications.
PAST INSTRUCTIONAL EXPERIENCES/ SPEECHES GIVEN
Mr. Lavelle is currently an adjunct faculty member at John Marshall Law School, teaching a course in I.R.S. Practice and Procedure. He worked as an adjunct faculty member at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. As an adjunct faculty member, he taught courses in Business Law and Economics.
He has spoken at various Chambers of Commerce and Public Libraries in Chicago and the Chicagoland area and was a law and tax "group leader" in a business counseling organization entitled "Insight for Business." Mr. Lavelle is also the former host of NewsMakers, a public policy news/information program on AT&T Broadband, channel 3.
Mr. Lavelle has also addressed several local chapters of the Illinois C.P.A. Society and insurance brokers on various aspects of estate and business planning.
Kerry Lavelle is now a member of the CHICAGO PLANNING COUNCIL, an organization of interrelated estate planning professionals, such as attorneys, CPA's, and financial advisors.
He has taught Harper College Courses in starting up new businesses, and how to buy existing businesses.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Mr. Lavelle, along with the other attorneys and staff at Lavelle Law, Ltd. established the Palatine Food Drive in 2002 to support the Palatine Food Pantry in Palatine, Illinois. As a large-scale food drive, Mr. Lavelle solicits the assistance of supermarket clients and food distributors in the Chicagoland area. Corporate involvement combined with community outreach makes the Palatine Food Drive one of the most successful Food Drives in the northwest suburbs.
Mr. Lavelle has served on the Board of Directors of the Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity (PHD), a Palatine not-for-profit organization serving unwed mothers and families.
Mr. Lavelle is in his sixteenth year as a volunteer attorney for the Clinic for the Disabled and Elder Law (CDEL). Just recently, Mr. Lavelle has agreed to become the Federal Tax Partner of CDEL, helping administer and evaluate the tax practice CDEL.
